Who am I?

My name is Einar Sveinn Westlund.

I’m an Icelandic adventure guide, private tour operator, filmmaker, and video editor. My passion is combining travel and food and adventures into memorable experiences.

In 2015 I began guiding on multi-day treks along the Laugavegur Trail, leading groups of up to 16 people through Iceland’s rugged highlands while preparing delicious and hearty meals in the mountains. Which is why I call it Feast in the Wild. I like to think I make the best meals you can find in the mountains. At least here in Iceland.

Since then, I’ve guided travelers from all over the world on both schedule and private tours across Iceland. These include classic routes such as the Golden Circle, South Coast, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Reykjanes Peninsula, and West Iceland. Where I am driving and guiding myself. I always try to go out of my way to include an extra stop when possible. Catered to the people’s interests that I am guiding that day.

Where I truly stand out is in private tours.

I have a flexible mindset which results in personalized experiences. No two tours are the same. The weather is always changing, people’s interests are always different and I make sure that delicious food is part of the experience. In fact, other guides often ask me for recommendations on where to eat around the country.

Currently, I offer private day tours from Reykjavík. This could be one day or a few days in a row but from Reykjavík as the basecamp.

In 2021-2022 I guided 6-day trekking and hiking tours in Iceland which I plan to start offering new trails in the summer of 2027.

I’m a sociable and adaptable guide who enjoys connecting with people from all backgrounds. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or something in between, I aim to create a trip that feels both effortless and memorable.

Adventures for the hungry

  • I am Icelandic, but I have also lived in Italian Alps, BC Canada, Finland and Denmark.

  • I have been guiding since 2015; Multi-day trekking trips, private multi-day and day tours as driving trips, snowmobiling guide in Finland

  • Adventure Guide Diploma from Thompson Rivers University 2012-2014

  • Wilderness First Responder 80-hour first aid certificate present since 2012. Needs to be recertified every 2-3 years.

  • I have lots of bad jokes and the occasional funny joke which makes it worth the while to have heard all the bad ones.

  • I am constantly learning more things and finding new hidden places to share with my guests.

Ideas I Live By

  • Travel should be fun. Somewhere in between entertaining and informative. I am excited to teach you about plants, culture, history, geology etc. But this is by no means a classroom. You won’t be tested at the end of the day on your knowledge of Iceland. You are coming to Iceland to experience Iceland and enjoy yourself in the stunning nature that can be found here.

  • I am really flexible. Well, not physically. I am stiff as a board. But mentally I excel at changing things up on the go, change the order of the stops to avoid big crowds, add small stops, stop for souvenir shopping or even the odd ice cream. All in order to enhance your experience here in Iceland. I personally think this is the number one skill of a great guide.

  • You will always get me. When you book tours with Feast in the Wild, you book directly with me. I will be the one to answer your emails, plan your trip, drive you and guide you. You have found Feast in the Wild and you like what it stands for. The biggest factor of how good your experience on the trip is the guide that you get. I offer a consistent and high-quality guiding experience in Iceland.

If, in the rare case I’m unable to guide your tour, you will always be informed in advance and given the choice of a trusted replacement guide or a full refund.

Note that in the cases that you might find affiliate links or if I am selling tours for other operators. It will be clear that it is sold through a different provider that is not Feast in the Wild.

Looking forward for our adventures

Einar Sveinn Westlund
